The Life of a Coastie Wife

I would like to add pictures to my blog. I have some ready of the area around Housing, but our laptop is in the shop. I accidentally dropped it off the sofa! My desktop is also broken and I need to get it fixed, it's just not a priority yet. So I've been using my Blackberry phone.

This week was eventful.

David left for his first schooling three week session on Monday in Yorktown, Virginia. He said it is very historical there and we have to make a trip out there someday soon. It is a little hard having him go to school or be away. I miss the conversation and interaction with him. In some ways, my life is easier. I don't have another parent getting involved with disciplining my girls. I resort back to single Valerie days where "anything goes", but really I know I am a good mom. I just mean that I do not stress over them eating in front of the TV for breakfast or staying up a little later.

On the days I don't have the girls, it is harder. I feel like a single, lonely person! It also is hard because I know David is having a great time without me! I know we both are used to being single and married life is new to us (me too), but I also know that he will come home soon. It's nice because I get chores done really fast and I have time to think. I don't have someone needed things or discussing money with me! That is really nice.

The things I miss is just him. His face, his eyes, his smile. You know how it is...

I went to a Spouses Club Meeting on Wednesday. It is sort of like a planning committee for the Coast Guard. We do so much through the year. I am in charge of the newsletter. People said I did great job for September. Now I have to outdo myself for October!

Pictures of Our Hamilton House

Take a look at our house at Hamilton Field. We are really blessed to live in this house, rent free, water and utilities paid for because David is Active Duty in the Coast Guard.

It's neat because I am pretty much living my dream life now. The life I thought I would live as an adult. Things are not always perfect, but for the most part, things are pretty darn good!

Novato Ward

I went to Novato Ward today for the first time! It was very nice and enjoyable. I like it so far. A lot better than Petaluma Ward, which I only went to once. I meant to go more. This ward has some younger moms in it. I met a nice gal who said she just started going back to church one month ago and her husband is a non-member. She also is previously divorced to a member at a young age.

I ran into two gals who I knew when I was a teenager in Shiloh Park Ward. Nicole, who is related to the Wrights. She is super nice! And Sheila Ramos' daughter-in-law. Also, super nice. I also ran into a mother-in-law of one of my friends, Coral.

Also my neighbors were there. The 9 yr. old daughter ran up to me and gave me a hug which was so sweet. I think I will go back!

The Joy of Friday

Fridays are wonderful! I went on a great walk with my neighbor Heidi. We went up and down the hills of Hamilton Field. It is very nostalgic to see the old mansions that used to be inhabited by Officers in the Air Force back in World War II.

I'm looking forward to getting my camera out and capturing the essence of this beautiful, historic place.

This afternoon, I am taking the girls to see, "How To Train Your Dragon". I'm looking forward to it. Callie has a slumber party tonight and Makenzie and I with David are going to be home making dinner and relaxing.

Welcome Home

Our life is filled with new beginnings here in Novato, CA. The weather was beautiful today. David and I enjoyed a walk around Hamilton, as well as a game of tennis.

I finished my last week working at the Petaluma, CA United States Coast Guard Base Child Development Center. I said my good-byes. My co-worker in the Infant Center will be missed. She gave me great feedback today when she told me I help keep her grounded and she appreciates my values. That was nice to hear.

David and I had sushi for dinner. One dragon roll and one Hawaiian Roll. The Hawaiian roll was scrumptious.

I am looking forward to next week when I start my new job as a toddler teacher at North Bay Children's Center. I will enjoy less driving time. My goal about three weeks ago was to enjoy the community at Hamilton Field. Since getting this new job, I will be able to achieve that goal.
